Give now 〉Why We Exist
Having been involved in motorsports (particularly flat track motorcycles) since the 1970's, we have seen too many athletes seriously injured. One of the consistent issues in flat track has been the use of questionable, aged or damaged equipment by the riders. Flat track is a sport in which one small miscalculation, either by the rider(s) on the track or with the bike setup, can lead directly to serious injury and/or death.
The founder Michael Marsh was moved to start this charity. He was involved in an on track accident in Sturgis SD in 2005, resulting in temporary lack of life signs, resuscitation and serious head, chest and back injuries. Hit the concrete wall straight on at just under 60 mph? A quality helmet and neck brace saved Michael from death. With an airbag suit, things might have been a lot different.
Coming back from the "light", Michael has been led by God to create an organization that could help kids and families that love the sport of flat track. The path was made crystal clear to Michael when one of his supported riders, Charlotte Kainz, was killed in a race in Calfornia in 2016.
A number of non-profit organizations exist to help injured riders AFTER THE INJURY OCCURS, including the well-known Back On Track a Rookies of '79 charity. RASE has been involved for years with the Back on Track organization, which has provided millions of dollars in support to injured riders and their families. We are proud to have our name and brand associated with Back On Track.
It was a combination of our years of experience and being part of Back On Track / Rookies that we refined our mission. Motorcycle athletes don't always have access to or the money for the appropriate safety equipment. The well known Recreational Action Sports Entertainment LLC ("RASE" pronounced like race) transferred its assets, federal trademarks and operations to RASE Safety Assistance, Inc. The non-profit was formed in 2021 to assist athletes BEFORE INJURIES OCCUR. We can help an athlete avoid or minimize an injury by supplying them with support for the best safety equipment. The organization was approved by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation, designated as: M40 – Provider of Safety Education and other Safety-Related Programs.
